John 7: 37-39 continued ( posted 10-24-08 )

Posted by waynebrownministries on 24th October 2008

” In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) ”

Let’s continue.

Jesus said;

“He that believeth on me, as the Scripture hath said, “

I discussed in the last Bible study that Jesus, God the Father and the Holy Spirit are all one in the same God. Read the rest of this entry »

Someone at work today said I looked like I had a lot on my mind and you know, I do.

Personal Note ( posted 10-11-08 )

Posted by waynebrownministries on 11th October 2008

During this time of financial crisis I’ve been expecting to hear in the news about suicides on the Golden Gate Bridge, as San Francisco in the past has had to post a ’suicide watch’. If you remember the stock market plunge back in 1987, this was a problem. While some experts are comparing the current events to that of 1929, what is different now is that this involves the world on a much larger scale. Instead of the born again christian being afraid during this world crisis, we should all the more put our trust in the Lord in whom we belong to. The recent news about people getting physically sick from the stress and worry about what is happening reminded me of when Jesus said, that people’s hearts will fail them due to fear of the things happening in the world. This should not happen to us as born again christians, believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. David said in Psalms 37:25 that in his entire life he has never seen the Lord’s own begging for bread. The Lord Jesus will take care of His own. I had the unusual experience of talking to a christian recently who is actually looking foward to Jesus coming back. I asked her how she felt about the financial situation and she looked at me and said, “I’ll be so glad when the rapture takes place.” Her response about blew me away. I personally know christians who make fun of those who are excited about Jesus coming back, as one of them being a pastor told me people who look forward to Jesus’ return are “stupid “. Nothing surprises me anymore in the evangelical realm. My friend, this is what happens when a born again christian has left his or her ” first love.” Like Demas who left Paul because he loved the world more than the Lord, so these christians have done the same… they love the world more than the Lord. Jesus Himself said we should be watching for His return and watching the signs of His return. This will only apply to one who has an ongoing relationship with the Lord Jesus. If we love this present world as Demas did, then we will not be watching for Jesus to return because our heart is in the world rather than being with Jesus. While Paul was watching for Jesus to return, Demas was not. So it is with many christians today. However, there is still the problem with today’s financial crisis as there was back on September 11 when people out of fear started going back to church, some for the first time in their life. But after the fear subsided, people went back to their usual lifestyle as if nothing happened. Let’s not look at Jesus coming back as an escape from trouble, only. Let’s not start reading the Bible and going to church only because of fear of what is happening in the world. This is better than doing nothing, I guess. But let’s look for Jesus to come back because we love Him and because we want to be with Him forever. While I know this attitude does not exist among us as born again christians today, it might take a catastrophe to bring us to our knees in repentance and asking the Lord to come back, as John who wrote the book of John we are studying and the book of Revelation said to Jesus, Even so come, Lord Jesus! However, Jesus will come back whether we want Him to or not. And that is a Biblical truth.

Well, concerning what I said about Congress in the last study, it looks like I could have been wrong about Washington, D.C. :)

Oh well, as they say…

” Fool me once shame on you - Fool me twice, shame on me.”

I’ll bet that Rome’s citizens thought the Roman Empire would exist forever.

As a matter of fact, it was the longest lasting dominant world empire there ever was, to this day. Read the rest of this entry »
